I may have missed something here but, did anyone ever post the cost of this intercooler? Availability? Incidental cost? Estimated installation time? Warranty? Is this strictly a prototype? Is it a "release" version? WTF, O?
Seems that every time somebody says "look at my new intercooler", hard on's sprout like Cub Scouts with a Playboy. Has anyone ever been able to buy one of these intercoolers?
From a marketing point of view, I'd recommend that developers heed the words of the LS Avenger. Clearly a man of experience. Probably has scars to prove it. Well said, sir.
From an engineering point of view, I'd like to see a white paper, a working prototype, complete drawings and verifiable performance numbers. Sorry, it's the engineer coming out in me. Data talks, BS walks. Are you walking or talking?
BTW, Jim. Don't you have some Hondata work starting the 28th? Just kidding. If this IC pans out, I MIGHT volunteer the green machine as a test bed. AND I'll bring some band-aids for you.

Thanks Brian... I will keep that in mind.

The bottom line is that the IC is the missing link to the magical 300whp mark for our jrsc'd cars.
Grand600, if you need money so bad, sell me your IC. if you're interested in passing the ball to someone who can and will run with it.

Jim, have you been able to verify why the dyno plots were HP vs. MPH and torque vs. MPH (instead of rpm)? Also, does anyone know what the correction factor for ACTUAL HP to SAE HP is?
Taipan, the purchasing information was posted earlier. Cost for the IC is $1150. Includes installation and porting of the new manifold. Cost for the additional water cooler is $250.
Here is the info. from the printout that they sent me.
LHT Performance data.
Ambient temperature 80 deg
Water temperature (in reservoir for cooler) 85 deg
Motor : B18C1
Boost : 11 psi
Blower RPM 16500 rpm?s
Temperature before IC 245 deg
Temperature @ Factory air temp sensor 250 deg
Temperature @ #1 port 25 mm from cylinder head 250 deg
Temperature @ #4 port 25mm from cylinder head 250 deg
Gear position 4th
WHP : 246
Torque: 162
POST IC
Ambient temperature 82 deg
Water temperature (in reservoir for cooler) 88 deg
Motor : B18C1
Boost : 11 psi
Blower RPM 17500
Temperature before intercooler 245 deg
Temperature @ Factory air temp sensor 165 deg
Temperature @ #1 port 25 mm from cylinder head : 110 deg
Temperature @ #4 port 25mm from cylinder head : 115 deg
Gear postion : 4th
WHP : 262
Torque: 178

CPA, TaiPan, LSAvenger, CROM, JRCivic, everyone - the intelligent responses are downright scarry.. I think I have actually become smarter within the last 5 minutes of post reading
Where is JR in all this? Have we not lobbied hard enough for Moss and friends to do some R&D over in California???
-
Thanks for the info, 217gsr. I probably looked at the price info earlier and didn't see it. Looks like some serious temp drops with the IC.
What's the availability?
-
Not a problem, Taipan. As far as I can tell from the emails and posts, the availability is immediate. Don't know if anyone is biting though. I'd like to see what Jim has to say about the dyno results. I think he emailed LHT to see why they were graphed on those specific axes.'

Now your at the RPM/THERMAL limit for the JRSC/EATON........where do you go now?
246whp before the blower will accomplish everything you need to do in a stock block Honda. The JRSC is "supposed" to be an econimical solution to above average HP. Not meant to run mid 11's and compete with turbo's. Id still choose a JRSC over a turbo Honda anyday, i just like the complete package.
For the 1000+$ to get the extra 25whp the IC provides, id rather just have a nice efficient 9psi setup with some enlarged valves and some good thorough head cleaning/smoothing/opening to get free-er flow, on the RICE-CALCULATER i ASSuME thatd be worth around 10-12whp and be somewhat less than 1000+$.
Dont kill me or anything, its only an opinion on sensibility and finances....
Tony
